Going to start off doing the Bob Ross stuff because "you can paint anything!" So here I am. Actually digitally painting Bob Ross is a bit of a challenge and not easy. His technique is "wet on wet" oil painting and I'm not very good at digitally painting. I need help.
Notes on the painting: I removed the first painted tree. The foreground tree was melding into it. The yellow tree doting could have been better (only used one brush). I had a lot of problems with enhancing the depth. The foreground tree melding with the background one the yellows I did not know how to change (choosing the right value) to differentiate.
Overall I tried to make some adjustments using blues to separate the elements. Not very happy with the composition I didn't plan the elements correctly as I was just watching elements being plotted on canvas in the show. I feel there's too much sky.
I watched three vids on digital painting, quite helpful.
Tips:
- using contrasting colours to define contrast (eg, using a blue don't shade in lighter or darker blue but add a little purple.)
- blending brush! Make big solid colouring then blend.
- use one brush.
- don't focus on detailing.
- dark shadows bring out the light elements.
- (not used in this painting) reversing the image to see if it still looks good.
